funny English bets

Betting is more than a sport in England; it is something of a way of life. Bookmakers are allowed to take bets on just anything; not only sports, horse races, dog races, but anything about public life, weather, and your own personal life if you want. For instance many parents bet on their kid playing for Liverpool or for England one day. I already mentioned the man who won £25,000 after betting on a Liverpool goal from behind the middle line.
Many other crazy bets are taken every day.

A very popular one is 'white christmas in London': will there be a snow flake in London on 25/12. This year, the odd was 10/1 ten days before; finally it didn't snow.

Tony Blair will grow a moustache in 2007? 8/1.
Scientific proof that Nessie exists and is alive: 66/1.
Scientific proof of the existence of intelligent extra-terrestrial life: 500/1.
The archbishop of Canterbury officially announcing the second coming of Christ: 1000/1.
